iMedia: Annabelle's Wish

This. Is. The. Best. Christmas. Movie. Ever.

I decided to post the trailer since posting the whole movie (which I have on my computer, in case anyone's interested) is probably illegal. But either way, this is the most touching story ever created and I swear, every time I've ever watched this I've ended up in tears. Since the Christmas spirit has already struck me (only 37 days!), this is the first thing that came to mind when I was allowed to write about a video clip. Really and truly, though, the movie speaks to everyone and really digs deep into your heart. In case you didn't catch it from the clip, it's about a boy who can't speak after a fire in his barn left him traumatized and his calf that he raises. On Christmas, all of the animals get voices from Santa, and Annabelle (the calf) makes great friends with the boy. I don't want to ruin the ending, but it's super touching and amazing and wonderful.

Other than the movie, I really wanted to address the Christmas spirit. Whether or not you celebrate it, the holidays are a wonderful time. But, Christmas is especially wonderful, at least to me. As a catholic, I also celebrate advent. Advent starts on November 29 this year, and is a time of learning about patience and waiting while getting ready for the upcoming holiday. If you've ever been into a catholic church during advent, even unwittingly, you'd notice the purple garb that the priest is wearing, instead of his usual white. It really is my favorite time of the year, and it allows me to learn a little bit more about myself every year.

The holidays are a time for family, for friends, for love, and for cheer. So even if you're not catholic, embrace the time leading up to Christmas and don't stress yourself out, get along for the ride and enjoy it. Presents aren't the MOST important thing in the world.

...maybe the second most important, though. :)

  1. I just have to say I agree with you wholeheartedly, except for the part about presents being the second most important thing. Tsk tsk, Meghana.

However, Annabelle's Wish is a very astounding movie. Actually, I haven't seen it in a while, but I remember it vividly because of the injustice that the mute boy suffers. This movie is about mankind, about what we are and what we wish to be.

Not to say that we all want to be talking cows, or anything. Even thought that would be pretty cool...

Regardless of the medium through which the idea is portrayed(i.e. cows), Annabelle's Wish speaks to the grinch inside of us. Don't deny it, we all have one.
It reminds us of what we should focus on, and conveys the message of love and forgiveness that we should all adopt.
